CVE-2021-1864 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Apple’s StoreKit/iTunes WebView scripting environment affecting iOS-derived platforms prior to the fixes in iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, watchOS 7.4, and tvOS 14.5. The issue stems from unsafe exposure of Objective-C methods to JavaScript through the obsolete WebScripting bridge used by SUScriptInterface and SUScriptObject-derived classes. Because selector exposure was overly permissive, JavaScript running in the affected context could invoke lifecycle methods such as dealloc on bridge-exposed objects, freeing an object while retaining a live reference to it. Subsequent use of that dangling reference enabled attacker-controlled memory corruption. The vulnerability was described as reachable by an attacker who already had JavaScript execution in the affected application context, and was used to obtain memory primitives, arbitrary invocation, and ultimately arbitrary code execution. The issue was addressed through improved memory management.

A use-after-free vulnerability in Apple's SUScriptObject/WebScripting exposure within a local pre-installed app, caused by insufficient access control that exposed lifecycle methods like dealloc to JavaScript, enabling dangling references and potential exploitation.
A secondary use-after-free vulnerability referenced as part of a full exploit chain to obtain memory primitives and code execution.
