CVE-2021-20596 is a remotely exploitable NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in Mitsubishi Electric MELSEC-F Series Ethernet interface blocks, affecting FX3U-ENET, FX3U-ENET-L, and FX3U-ENET-P502 firmware version 1.14 and prior. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger the flaw by sending specially crafted packets to the affected Ethernet interface block. Successful exploitation causes a denial-of-service condition in communications with the product. The advisory states that PLC control by the MELSEC-F series itself is not affected, but recovery from the communication failure requires a system reset.
