CVE-2021-22145 is a memory disclosure vulnerability in Elasticsearch versions 7.10.0 through 7.13.3. The flaw exists in the error reporting mechanism, where a user able to submit arbitrary queries can craft a malformed query that triggers an error message leaking previously used portions of a data buffer. This buffer may contain sensitive information, including Elasticsearch documents or authentication details. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read.

This repository contains a single Metasploit auxiliary scanner module targeting a memory disclosure vulnerability in Elasticsearch versions 7.10.0 through 7.13.3 (CVE-2021-22145). The module allows an attacker with access to the Elasticsearch HTTP API to send a specially crafted POST request to the '_bulk' endpoint, causing the server to return error messages containing portions of its memory. This can expose sensitive information such as documents or authentication credentials, similar in nature to the Heartbleed vulnerability. The module supports two actions: 'SCAN' to check for vulnerable hosts and 'DUMP' to extract and store leaked memory data as loot. The exploit is operational, requiring only network access to the Elasticsearch instance (optionally with credentials if authentication is enabled). The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be run within the Metasploit framework.
