CVE-2021-22893 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in Pulse Connect Secure affecting version 9.0R3 and later. The flaw is exposed through the Windows File Share Browser and Pulse Secure Collaboration features and allows an unauthenticated attacker to reach functionality on the Pulse Connect Secure gateway that should require authentication. Successful exploitation can lead to remote arbitrary file execution on the gateway and, in practice, remote code execution. The vulnerability was actively exploited in the wild, including in intrusion campaigns in which attackers deployed web shells, modified legitimate appliance components for persistence, harvested credentials, and bypassed authentication controls including MFA.
