CVE-2021-25631 is a vulnerability in LibreOffice 7.1 before 7.1.2 and 7.0 before 7.0.5 on Windows in which the application's hyperlink-opening protections can be bypassed. LibreOffice used a denylist-based control intended to block dangerous file types when opening links, but an attacker can manipulate a link so that it does not match the denylist while still causing Windows ShellExecute to resolve and launch an executable type. This weakness affects the logic used to validate externally opened links and allows a malicious document hyperlink to evade the blacklist and reach the operating system's URL or file handling mechanism.
