CVE-2021-30633 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Google Chrome's IndexedDB implementation, fixed in Chrome 93.0.4577.82. The flaw affected Chrome prior to 93.0.4577.82 and was exploitable from a crafted HTML page after compromise of the renderer process. Available technical analysis indicates the bug was in browser-side IndexedDB transaction handling: Mojo IPC requests could still be accepted while a transaction was already commit-pending, committing, or finished. During asynchronous blob or file-system handle serialization in commit processing, a callback retained a raw pointer to an IndexedDBExternalObject stored in external_objects_. An attacker could then replace or free the referenced external object before the callback resumed, causing dereference of a dangling pointer via later processing such as set_file_system_access_token. This produced a browser-process use-after-free primitive that could be leveraged for sandbox escape.
