CVE-2021-3612 is an out-of-bounds memory-access vulnerability in Linux kernel joydev joystick-device ioctl handling. Malformed input to the JSIOCSBTNMAP ioctl can cause incorrect processing in joydev_handle_JSIOCSBTNMAP(). In upstream kernels beginning with Linux v5.12-rc1, following commit 182d679b2298, the condition can produce an out-of-bounds kernel-memory write and panic. Earlier affected kernels exposed an out-of-bounds stack-read condition instead.
