CVE-2021-47383 is an out-of-bounds vmalloc access in the Linux kernel framebuffer-console path in the tty subsystem. A userspace caller can submit FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO with an incompletely initialized fb_var_screeninfo containing only xres, yres, and bits_per_pixel. If its relevant values match the preceding configuration, vc_resize() can decide that resizing is unnecessary and skip resize_screen(), leaving screen information incomplete. updatescrollmode() then calculates an invalid fbcon_display->vrows value; real_y() derives an invalid y coordinate, and imageblit accesses memory outside the intended vmalloc allocation. The upstream correction invokes resize_screen() even where no resize is needed so that fb_var_screeninfo is completed and normalized.
