CVE-2021-47560 is a NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel mlxsw Spectrum driver. While handling firmware-generated port up/down events, the driver checked for non-existent local ports but did not exclude the CPU port (local port 0). The CPU port exists but has no associated network device; consequently, carrier-state handling can call netif_carrier_on() or netif_carrier_off() with a NULL network-device pointer. The upstream fix rejects CPU-port events before netdev operations are performed.
