CVE-2022-1882 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel pipe notification path. In fs/pipe.c, free_pipe_info() frees a pipe object without clearing the associated watch_queue->pipe reference. The stale reference becomes a dangling pointer that post_one_notification() can subsequently dereference. The flaw results from a race between pipe teardown and notification processing and was fixed upstream in Linux kernel 5.18-rc8.
