When copying a fence-reply object to userspace fails, error handling releases the file object but does not properly remove the associated file-descriptor-table entry. The still-valid descriptor can subsequently reference a dangling file pointer, enabling use-after-free exploitation and access to file objects opened by other processes.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a local privilege escalation vulnerability (CVE-2022-22942) in the Linux kernel's vmwgfx driver (versions 4.14-rc1 to 5.17-rc1). The exploit abuses improper file descriptor handling to overwrite a SUID binary (such as /bin/chfn or /bin/chage) with a payload, resulting in root code execution. The module checks for the presence and writability of relevant device files (/dev/dri/card0 or /dev/dri/renderD128) and SUID binaries, then uploads and executes a payload (default: Meterpreter reverse shell).
