CVE-2022-24877 is a relative path traversal vulnerability in Flux's kustomize-controller, a component of the Flux continuous delivery platform for Kubernetes. A maliciously crafted kustomization.yaml can include ../ path sequences that are not properly constrained to the intended working directory, allowing the controller to resolve and access files outside the expected repository or manifest path. As a result, an attacker can cause the controller to read data from the kustomize-controller pod filesystem. The issue affects the controller's handling of filesystem paths referenced from kustomization.yaml and was fixed in kustomize-controller v0.24.0; the fix is included in flux2 v0.29.0.
