CVE-2022-26352 is an unauthenticated directory-traversal flaw in dotCMS ContentResource API multipart upload handling, affecting dotCMS 3.0 through 22.02. The vulnerable POST and PUT content API handlers derive a temporary upload path from the user-controlled multipart filename and copy the uploaded stream without sanitizing traversal sequences. When anonymous Content API write access is enabled, an attacker can escape the intended upload directory and write attacker-controlled files to accessible locations on the dotCMS host. Placement of server-executable content in a web-accessible application location can result in pre-authentication remote code execution.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (dotcms_file_upload_rce.rb) that exploits CVE-2022-26352, a remote code execution vulnerability in dotCMS. The exploit leverages improper sanitization of filenames in the dotCMS content API (/api/content/), allowing an attacker to upload a malicious JSP file outside the intended temp directory and into the web root. The module uploads a JSP payload (default: java/jsp_shell_reverse_tcp) and then triggers its execution via an HTTP GET request, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the target server. The exploit targets both Linux and Windows platforms running dotCMS and is fully weaponized, allowing for customizable payloads within the Metasploit framework. The main attack vector is network-based, requiring access to the dotCMS content API endpoint. The repository is structured as a typical Metasploit module, with all logic contained in a single Ruby file.

A pre-authentication remote code execution vulnerability in dotCMS's file-upload functionality. Directory traversal in an uploaded filename permits an attacker to write arbitrary files, including a JSP web shell into Tomcat's web root, resulting in arbitrary operating-system command execution.
An arbitrary file upload and path-traversal vulnerability in dotCMS multipart content upload endpoints. An attacker could supply a traversal sequence in the uploaded filename and write arbitrary files outside the intended temporary directory. This could enable remote command execution by placing a JSP web shell in a web-accessible location, or by overwriting application-served JavaScript and potentially other sensitive files.
A remote code execution vulnerability in DotCMS that H0lyGh0st uses for initial access by exploiting public-facing web applications/content management systems.
