CVE-2022-29900, also known as Retbleed and tracked alongside CVE-2022-23816, is a hardware speculative-execution vulnerability in affected AMD processors. An attacker can mistrain branch prediction for return instructions, causing speculative control-flow redirection and arbitrary speculative code execution under microarchitecture-dependent conditions. Speculatively accessed kernel data may then be recovered through microarchitectural side channels. Affected processors include AMD families 0x15 through 0x17, spanning Bulldozer through Zen 2, and Hygon family 0x18.
