CVE-2022-3566 is a race condition in the Linux kernel TCP/IPv6 socket handling code, introduced in Linux 2.6.12. The socket inet_connection_sock icsk_af_ops field can be modified by setsockopt(IPV6_ADDRFORM) and tcp_v6_connect() while protected by lock_sock(), but tcp_getsockopt() and tcp_setsockopt() read the same field without equivalent synchronization. Concurrent connect and socket-option operations can therefore access the field unsafely. The issue affects upstream stable kernel branches through 4.19.316, 5.4.278, 5.10.220, and 5.15.161.
