CVE-2022-41073 is a Windows Print Spooler local elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in Activation Context handling. An attacker can manipulate XML activation-context data and use path traversal in conjunction with per-session drive remapping to cause a privileged Print Spooler component to resolve a trusted Windows side-by-side assembly path through an attacker-controlled fake drive root. This can cause the Print Spooler filter-pipeline service to load an attacker-controlled modified DLL while the path appears to be within the trusted Windows WinSxS hierarchy. The issue was exploited in the wild.

An in-the-wild Windows Activation Context elevation-of-privilege vulnerability where a user can remap the root drive for privileged processes during impersonation, enabling arbitrary DLL loading by a SYSTEM process.
An in-the-wild Windows Activation Context elevation-of-privilege vulnerability that permits remapping the root drive during impersonation, enabling an unprivileged user to redirect a privileged process into loading an arbitrary DLL.
Windows Print Spooler local elevation of privilege involving path traversal/XML manipulation to load a user-controlled DLL (e.g., prntvpt.dll) under privileged context; mitigated by stopping impersonation around LoadLibraryExW / using OBJ_IGNORE_IMPERSONATED_DEVICEMAP.
