CVE-2022-41715 is an uncontrolled memory-consumption vulnerability in Go's regexp/syntax parser. Applications that compile regular expressions originating from untrusted sources can be induced to parse expressions whose internal representation remains linear in input size but has a memory-cost constant factor of up to approximately 40,000. Consequently, relatively small regular-expression inputs can require disproportionately large memory allocations. The Go fix enforces a 256 MB memory-footprint limit for parsing each individual regular expression and rejects expressions exceeding that limit; normal regular-expression use is unaffected.
