CVE-2022-43945 is a resource-exhaustion flaw in the Linux kernel Network File System server (NFSD) RPC-over-TCP request handling. NFSD accounts for pages used by an RPC request's receive and send buffers in a combined page array. A correctly formed RPC-over-TCP request with excess trailing garbage data can cause the send buffer to shrink unexpectedly. Subsequent NFSD handling does not account for the oversized request condition, resulting in a send/receive buffer overflow condition and resource starvation. The reported condition does not produce an actual out-of-bounds memory access.
