CVE-2022-49385 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel driver core. If driver_attach() fails, the associated driver_private object is freed; however, prior to the fix, the driver could remain registered on its bus. This leaves a dangling bus reference that can subsequently be dereferenced. The upstream correction removes the driver from the bus when driver attachment fails.
