CVE-2022-50228 is a reachable assertion failure in the Linux kernel KVM implementation for AMD Secure Virtual Machine (SVM). KVM SVM could invoke a kernel BUG or WARN when userspace injected an interrupt while the guest Global Interrupt Flag (GIF) was cleared. Userspace could force this state through the KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS interface, reaching an invalid-opcode kernel failure during KVM interrupt injection. The upstream correction removes the BUG/WARN behavior for this userspace-forced condition.
