CVE-2022-50228 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Linux kernel's KVM implementation for AMD Secure Virtual Machine (SVM). When userspace injects an interrupt while the virtual CPU Global Interrupt Flag (GIF) is cleared, the SVM interrupt-injection path can execute a kernel BUG assertion, resulting in an invalid-opcode kernel crash. The state can be trivially induced through the KVM_SET_VCPU_EVENTS interface. The fix removes the BUG/WARN behavior for interrupt injection states that userspace can force with GIF cleared.
