CVE-2023-0458 is a speculative pointer-dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel do_prlimit() function. An attacker-controlled resource argument is used in pointer arithmetic to derive the rlim reference. Speculative execution can dereference the resulting invalid pointer before architectural bounds validation, creating a side channel through which kernel-memory contents may be disclosed.
