CVE-2023-1370 affects json-smart, a performance-focused JSON processing library. According to the provided description, when the parser encounters '[' or '{' in JSON input, it recursively parses arrays and objects. The implementation does not enforce a limit on nesting depth for these recursively parsed structures. An attacker can therefore supply excessively nested JSON arrays and/or objects, causing unbounded recursive descent until the process exhausts available stack space and crashes with a stack overflow.
