CVE-2023-20572 is a timing side-channel vulnerability in the AMD ASP/PSP bootloader authentication path, described as a memcmp security weakness. An observable timing discrepancy during comparison of a hash message authentication code can allow a privileged attacker to iteratively brute-force the expected HMAC value. By exploiting the non-constant-time comparison behavior, an attacker may be able to craft and submit an arbitrary message that passes verification, undermining the integrity of the protected input.
