CVE-2023-26464 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in end-of-life Apache Log4j 1.x. When Chainsaw or SocketAppender deserializes an attacker-influenced logging event containing a specially crafted, deeply nested HashMap or Hashtable, Java versions earlier than 1.7 can consume excessive JVM heap memory. The resulting memory exhaustion can destabilize or terminate the affected application or JVM.
