Progress DataDirect Connect for ODBC for Oracle, prior to version 08.02.2770, contains a vulnerability in its implementation of Oracle Advanced Security (OAS) encryption. If an error occurs during the initialization of the encryption object, the driver falls back to an alternative encryption mechanism that uses an insecure random number generator for private key generation. This allows an attacker to potentially predict the generated keys and decrypt traffic between the ODBC driver and the Oracle database server. The vulnerability is not present when SSL/TLS encryption is used.
