CVE-2023-39326 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in Go's net/http chunked-transfer-encoding reader. HTTP chunk extensions, metadata attached to each chunk, are discarded by the reader but still consumed from the network without a sufficiently restrictive encoded-byte-to-body-byte ratio. A malicious HTTP peer can attach disproportionately large extensions to very small body chunks, causing a receiver to read substantially more network data than the declared or delivered body content represents. For servers, this is particularly significant when a request handler does not consume the complete request body: net/http's automatic body-draining behavior can read up to approximately 1 GiB of attacker-controlled encoded data. The corrected chunk reader rejects input when the ratio of actual body data to encoded bytes becomes too small.
