CVE-2023-41064 is a buffer overflow vulnerability in Apple’s ImageIO component affecting iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. According to Apple, the flaw was caused by improper memory handling and can be triggered when the system processes a maliciously crafted image. Successful exploitation may result in arbitrary code execution. Apple stated that the issue may have been actively exploited in the wild. Reporting tied the vulnerability to the BLASTPASS exploit chain, where it was paired with CVE-2023-41061 and used in zero-click iMessage/PassKit-based attacks to deliver NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware.
