CVE-2023-41179 is a critical arbitrary code/command execution vulnerability in the third-party antivirus uninstaller module used by multiple Trend Micro products, including Apex One (on-premises and SaaS), Worry-Free Business Security, and Worry-Free Business Security Services / Virus Buster Business Security Service. The flaw is tied to the products’ functionality for uninstalling third-party security software. By manipulating this module, an attacker who can access the product’s administrative or management console can cause arbitrary commands to be executed on the affected installation. Trend Micro and downstream reporting described the issue as actively exploited as a zero-day in 2023.
