CVE-2023-42754 is a NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel IPv4 routing stack, in ipv4_send_dest_unreach() in net/ipv4/route.c. The function assumes that a socket buffer has an associated network device and passes dev_net(skb->dev) to __ip_options_compile(). Packets rerouted through IPVS can have skb->dev set to NULL, causing the dev_net() call to dereference a NULL device pointer. The resulting fault can panic the kernel.
