CVE-2023-52434 is an out-of-bounds access vulnerability in the Linux kernel SMB/CIFS client. The smb2_parse_contexts() function dereferences SMB2 create-context offsets and lengths without first adequately validating that they remain within the received buffer. A malicious or malformed SMB server response containing invalid create-context metadata can cause the client to access memory out of bounds, including during SMB share mounting or path-access operations.
