CVE-2023-52922 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel CAN Broadcast Manager subsystem, in bcm_proc_show() within net/can/bcm.c. The flaw is caused by a race in which bcm_release() frees bcm_op objects before the associated procfs entry is removed, allowing bcm_proc_show() to traverse and read a freed bcm_op while procfs output is being generated. KASAN reported the issue as a slab-use-after-free. The bug affects kernel versions from 2.6.25 until the respective fixed releases in supported branches.
