CVE-2023-53581 is a race condition in the Linux kernel net/mlx5e networking driver’s flow-deletion handling. The driver checked a flow’s NOT_READY flag before acquiring the uplink_priv->unready_flows_lock mutex. A workqueue task could concurrently remove that flow from the unready_flows list between the check and locking, causing a second list removal. The resulting list corruption can trigger a general-protection fault in mlx5e_tc_del_fdb_flow and crash the kernel.
