CVE-2023-53581 is a race condition in the Linux kernel mlx5e networking driver’s traffic-control flow deletion handling. The driver checked a flow’s NOT_READY state before acquiring the mutex protecting the unready-flow list. A concurrent workqueue task could remove the same flow after the unchecked state inspection, allowing a subsequent deletion path to remove it again. The resulting list corruption can trigger a general protection fault during mlx5e flow deletion. The fix performs the NOT_READY-state check within the mutex-protected critical section.
