CVE-2023-5363 is an incorrect key and initialization-vector length processing vulnerability in OpenSSL 3.0 and 3.1. When an application calls EVP_EncryptInit_ex2(), EVP_DecryptInit_ex2(), or EVP_CipherInit_ex2(), OpenSSL processes the supplied OSSL_PARAM array after establishing the key and IV. Consequently, requested changes through the keylen or ivlen parameters may not be applied as intended, causing key or IV truncation or overreads during initialization. The issue affects RC2, RC4, RC5, and CCM, GCM, and OCB cipher modes. OpenSSL SSL/TLS and the OpenSSL 3.0 and 3.1 FIPS providers are not affected.
