CVE-2023-53691 is a directory traversal file upload vulnerability affecting Hikvision CSMP (Comprehensive Security Management Platform) iSecure Center versions through 2023-06-25. The flaw is in the /center/api/files endpoint used for file uploads. According to the provided content, the application insufficiently validates user-supplied file paths, allowing traversal sequences such as ../ to be supplied during upload operations. This enables an attacker to write uploaded files outside the intended upload directory, including sensitive, web-accessible, or executable locations. In practical exploitation, attackers can upload arbitrary files such as web shells, which can then be invoked to achieve remote code execution under the privileges of the web server process.
