CVE-2023-6000 is a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Popup Builder WordPress plugin before version 4.2.3. The plugin does not properly restrict simple visitors from updating existing popups, allowing unauthorized modification of popup content and injection of raw JavaScript. Because the injected script is stored in the application and later rendered to users, the flaw can be used to execute attacker-controlled JavaScript in the context of the affected WordPress site. Reported exploitation abused popup event handling to trigger malicious code when popups opened, enabling compromise of site content and downstream visitor targeting.
