CVE-2023-6217 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in Progress MOVEit Transfer when MOVEit Gateway is deployed in conjunction with MOVEit Transfer. The issue affects versions released before 2022.0.9 (14.0.9), 2022.1.10 (14.1.10), and 2023.0.7 (15.0.7). The flaw is caused by improper neutralization/encoding of attacker-controlled input that is reflected into web output in the MOVEit Gateway and MOVEit Transfer interaction path. An attacker can craft a malicious URL or payload targeting an affected deployment; if a MOVEit user follows the link or otherwise triggers the request, attacker-supplied JavaScript executes in the security context of the victim’s browser session.
