CVE-2024-1135 is an HTTP request-smuggling vulnerability in Gunicorn caused by improper validation of Transfer-Encoding headers. Gunicorn incorrectly treats requests containing multiple conflicting Transfer-Encoding headers as chunked regardless of the final encoding specified. Differences in request framing between Gunicorn and an upstream HTTP intermediary can allow attacker-controlled requests to bypass security restrictions and reach restricted endpoints. Potential consequences include cache poisoning, session manipulation, and data exposure.

An HTTP request smuggling vulnerability in Gunicorn caused by incorrect handling of multiple conflicting Transfer-Encoding headers. Gunicorn treats these requests as chunked regardless of the final encoding specified, potentially enabling security restriction bypass, access to restricted endpoints, cache poisoning, session manipulation, and data exposure. The advisory identifies affected python-gunicorn packages on Unity Linux and recommends updating them. Nessus detects affected versions using self-reported version information rather than testing exploitation.
