CVE-2024-1394 is a missing-release-of-memory flaw in golang-fips/openssl RSA encryption and decryption handling. On error paths, the affected function uses named return values and deferred cleanup, but error returns overwrite the tracked OpenSSL key and context objects with nil values before cleanup executes. Consequently, the allocated key and context objects are not released. Attacker-controlled inputs that cause these error paths can repeatedly trigger the leak.
