CVE-2024-22024 is an XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the SAML component of Ivanti Connect Secure, Ivanti Policy Secure, and Ivanti Neurons for ZTA / ZTA gateways. Improper handling of XML external entities in SAML processing allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause the appliance to access or expose certain restricted resources. Ivanti indicated that appliances running supported 9.x and 22.x releases were affected, including systems that had received the January 31, 2024 patch set unless the corresponding mitigation released at that time had also been applied. The issue is described as affecting patched appliances and results in an authentication bypass condition through the vulnerable XML/SAML processing path rather than requiring valid credentials.
