CVE-2024-24789 is an interpretation inconsistency in the Go standard library's archive/zip package. Its handling of certain malformed ZIP archives differs from that of most ZIP implementations, allowing an attacker to construct an archive whose apparent contents depend on the implementation reading it. This discrepancy can undermine workflows that inspect an archive with one implementation and subsequently process it with another. The corrected package rejects archives containing the relevant errors.
