CVE-2024-26602 is a resource-exhaustion vulnerability in the Linux kernel scheduler membarrier subsystem. On affected kernels, a process can invoke the sys_membarrier system call at a sufficiently high frequency to incur expensive repeated membarrier processing and saturate system resources. The fix serializes access on the relevant path with a lock, reducing the ability to hammer the interface.
