CVE-2024-26846 is a race condition in the Linux kernel NVMe over Fibre Channel host driver module-exit path. During nvme-fc module removal, controller-deletion work can race with cleanup of leftover identifier allocations. Synchronization intended to prevent double freeing did not cover all execution paths, allowing the exit path to wait indefinitely for completion. The upstream fix eliminates the unnecessary ID-destruction cleanup, relies on controller-deletion cleanup to release IDs, and flushes the nvme_delete_wq workqueue before nvme_fc_exit_module returns.
