CVE-2024-26906 is an x86 Linux kernel memory-management flaw in handling attempts to read the vsyscall page through copy_from_kernel_nofault(). A BPF program using bpf_probe_read_kernel() can cause that helper path to invoke copy_from_kernel_nofault(), which reaches the low-level user-access routine for an address that is not kernel-readable. Page-fault handling classifies the vsyscall address as userspace, preventing the BPF no-fault fixup from being applied; with SMAP, this results in page_fault_oops(). The upstream correction rejects vsyscall-page reads in copy_from_kernel_nofault().
