CVE-2024-27417 is a resource-management flaw in the Linux kernel IPv6 rtnetlink address-query path. In inet6_rtm_getaddr(), a request containing a valid IFA_TARGET_NETNSID attribute but omitting both IFA_ADDRESS and IFA_LOCAL can follow an error path that returns -EINVAL after acquiring a reference to the target network namespace without releasing it. Repeated malformed requests can accumulate elevated struct net reference counts.
