CVE-2024-28988 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in SolarWinds Web Help Desk caused by deserialization of untrusted data in the AjaxProxy component. The flaw is reachable without authentication and allows a remote attacker to supply crafted serialized input that is processed by the application without sufficient validation. Successful exploitation results in arbitrary command execution on the underlying host. The issue was disclosed as a bypass of an earlier fix for CVE-2024-28986, indicating the original remediation did not fully eliminate the unsafe deserialization attack surface in Web Help Desk.
