CVE-2024-29847 is a critical insecure deserialization vulnerability in the Agent Portal component of Ivanti Endpoint Manager (EPM). Affected versions include Ivanti EPM before 2022 SU6 and Ivanti EPM 2024 systems lacking the September 2024 update. The flaw stems from deserialization of untrusted data in the Agent Portal’s exposed .NET Remoting service, which is registered without transport security and can be reached remotely. The vulnerable service registers a remoting endpoint for the Agent Portal interface and accepts attacker-controlled serialized input, allowing exploitation even without authentication. Available technical reporting indicates the issue is exploitable against the Agent Portal service despite a low type filter configuration, resulting in arbitrary code execution on the EPM core server.
