A vulnerability in Pi-hole versions prior to 5.18.3 allows an authenticated user to abuse the gravity_DownloadBlocklistFromUrl() function to make internal requests to the server. Under certain circumstances, this can be leveraged to achieve remote command execution. The vulnerability is patched in version 5.18.3.

This repository provides a working exploit for CVE-2024-34361, a critical SSRF-to-RCE vulnerability in Pi-hole (<=5.18.2). The exploit is implemented in Python (exploit.py) and automates the attack chain: authenticating to the Pi-hole admin interface, extracting a CSRF token, and abusing the adlist addition functionality to send a Gopher protocol payload to a local Redis instance. This payload causes Redis to write a PHP webshell (<?php system($_GET['cmd']); ?>) to /var/www/html/admin/shell.php. The exploit then triggers Pi-hole to process the payload, resulting in the webshell being accessible via the web interface. The attacker can then execute arbitrary commands on the target system by sending requests to shell.php with the 'cmd' parameter. The repository includes a README.md with detailed usage instructions and a requirements.txt for dependencies. The exploit requires the attacker to know the Pi-hole admin password and for Redis to be installed and running on the target. The main attack vector is network-based, targeting the Pi-hole web interface and local Redis service.
