CVE-2024-35938 affects the Linux kernel ath11k Wi-Fi driver configuration for QCA6390 and WCN6855 hardware. The MHI channel buffer-length field was left at zero, causing the MHI subsystem to use its 64 KB default buffer size. During channel preparation, including device resume, this requires a higher-order memory allocation. On systems with highly fragmented memory where reclaim or compaction is unavailable, the allocation can fail. The fix explicitly sets the buffer length to 8 KB, which remains sufficient for QMI target-to-host traffic on the affected hardware and reduces allocation pressure.
