CVE-2024-36075 is an arbitrary code execution vulnerability affecting CoSoSys Endpoint Protector through 5.9.3 and Unify agent through 7.0.6 on Windows and macOS endpoints. The flaw stems from insufficient sanitization of server-supplied configuration values that are written by the client into an INI-style configuration file in key=value format. Because special characters such as newline characters are not properly filtered, an attacker who can modify configuration data delivered by the management server can inject additional configuration entries. The vulnerability is triggered when managed clients retrieve and apply settings from the server, allowing maliciously crafted configuration content or archive-delivered settings to alter client behavior and reach code execution paths on the endpoint. Successful exploitation can result in remote code execution with administrator-level privileges on the affected endpoint.
