CVE-2024-3727 is an improper integrity-value validation flaw in the github.com/containers/image library. Its digest type handling does not guarantee that a supplied digest is of a valid type. A malicious container image can exploit this weakness when processed by a victim's container-image tooling, inducing unexpected authenticated accesses to a container registry under the victim user's credentials.
